US Government

US Government is the study of the historical backgrounds, governing principles, and institutions of the government of the United States. Students will study the roots of our Constitution and the principles of our government, such as popular sovereignty, separation of powers, and checks and balances. Individual rights, civil liberties, and the importance and responsibility of participating in a democracy will be examined. Students will compare the U.S. system of government with other modern systems and assess the strengths and prob­lems associated with the U.S. system.
